Great news! The TAP planning grant submitted by the consortium of governments for the Paths to Mesa Verde Trail has been approved. The partnership is with CDOT, BLM, Montezuma County, Mesa Verde National Park, City of Cortez, and the Town of Mancos. The Transportation Alternatives Program utilizes federal funding and is managed by CDOT. The planning grant is for two years and is for a total of $500,000. Funds will used for the planning and engineering needed to get the project construction-ready.
As the main applicant, Montezuma County will sign an intergovernmental agreement with CDOT and scope out the project to advertise for a planning and engineering firm to work on the project. Once a firm is selected, they will be reaching out to invite community members and organizations to participate in the process.
